MSc and PhD Opportunities in Ecotoxicology

Join the team of our member Steve Wiseman at the University of Lethbridge.

PhD Opportunity

A PhD position is available to investigate effects of microplastic associated chemicals on fishes. There is considerable room regarding specifics of the research, but it is expected that in vivo and in vitro approaches will be integrated to identify effects at different stages of development, from embryos to sexually mature adults, and to elucidate molecular mechanisms of effects. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a background in toxicology or fish physiology with experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, or endocrinology.

MSc Opportunity

A MSc position is available to investigate impacts of coal mining related contaminants on fishes. The research will involve exposure of embryos to various chemicals of concern to elucidate effects and associated molecular and biochemical mechanisms. Individuals with previous research experience (independent studies, senior honour’s thesis) will be given priority.

Submit an Application

A start date of September 2021 or January 2022 is preferred for both positions. Interested individuals should send a complete academic CV to steve.wiseman@uleth.ca.

Interested individuals are encouraged to visit the University of Lethbridge Graduate Studies webpage.
