The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track position in the developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD)- Healthy Life Trajectory within the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of accomplishment and innovation using the developmental origins of health and disease paradigm linking early life exposures and life-long health trajectories at the population level. The successful candidate will have expertise related to DOHaD research methodologies including biosciences (e.g., epigenetics, epigenomic data science, molecular biology) and quantitative approaches (e.g., epidemiology, AI/machine learning). Interdisciplinary approaches using DOHaD to explore health disparities are welcome.

The School of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences provides French and English education in Health Sciences challenging students to understand biological, environmental, and psychosocial factors as interactive health determinants across the lifespan.

The Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences is home to researchers who investigate health, longevity, and disease using interdisciplinary methodologies, approaches, and perspectives. Research areas of interest include integrative health biosciences, population health, and health technologies.

Rank and salary: Regular tenure-track academic appointment in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $88,735 (as of May 1, 2022).

Duties: The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) developing and maintaining an independent research program; c) supervision of graduate students, d) academic service activities.

Skills requirements:

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent or Postdoctoral experience in DOHaD, reproductive/developmental health, epigenomic data science, epigenetics, or related field.

Experience: Postdoctoral research experience or academic faculty experience; a demonstrated excellent research track record in DOHaD, ability to develop and sustain an independent research program; excellent communication skills in English and French. Active knowledge of the other official language in Canada is a requirement for tenure.
